The Squadron hopes to complement physical fitness training delivered in schools and colleges, as well as give cadets an insight into the fitness standards required for entry into the Armed Forces. Cadets are not penalised for not achieving particular times or scores, they are simply encouraged to improve their own personal standards over time.
Cadets who are enrolled in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme can complete the 'physical' section by setting realistic goals and working on their fitness to then obtain them.
The organisation also competes in a variety of sporting events.
All cadets have the opportunity to represent the Squadron in these sports and some may be selected to represent the Wing. Cadets may then be chosen to represent the South West Region and go on to compete at Corps (National) level where they could in turn be selected to represent the Corps against national level sporting teams.
Our Squadron has experienced significant sporting success in past, with cadets regularly being selected for the Bristol and Gloucestershire Wing team and sometimes the South West Regional team.
Cadets who represent the South West Region and the Air Training Corps are usually exposed to national team selectors.
